The Realm of the Air
The Kaya is the Realm of the Air. Raging wind and rain and lightning and more ravage Kaya, but it also is calm and still. Birds fly in the Kaya, but make their nests in the Avel trees and bushes. Few creatures are counted as true Creatures of the Kaya, and therefore the Kaya is not recognized as separate from the land or sea below.
With the development of Airships over the past few hundred years, a debate over whether or not sustainable Kaya communities will be allowed to form their own nations began and was approved in 3580 granting regions of the Kaya political sovereignty if they wished it.
Similar to a mountain's rain shadow, the Kayav also create a rain shadow effect. Moist air blowing in condenses and creates rain beneath the Kayav. The undersides of the Kayav are often covered in mosses and vines. Vines occasionally work their way into the stone and cause chunks to break off. Due to the magnetics that keep the Kayav aloft, these rarely fall to the Avel; though it does happen.

The Kayav are huge chunks of land that float in the sky.
Those who live on the Kaya are not only literally above everyone else, but they act as if they are. They tend to look down upon others and hold themselves aloft.
