Caitiann
Catfolk, or Caitians, are considered one of the most proud races on Avel. Not only do the Caitians have a history of great leaders, but they are also known for their explorers and equaled by none in creature comforts.
Physical Description
In general, Caitians are lithe and slender, ranging in heights from 3ft to just over 7ft tall depending on the breed of Caitian. While clearly humanoid, they possess many feline features, including a coat of soft fine fur, slit pupils, and a sleek, slender tail. They can vary in feline species resemblance, from resembling small house cats, to tigers or lions. Their ears are pointed, but unlike those of elves, are more rounded and catlike. They manipulate objects as easily as any other humanoid, but their fingers terminate in small, sharp, retractable claws. Feline whiskers are not uncommon, but not universal, hair and eye color vary greatly.
Society
There are two main cultures of Caitians: the Wildlings and the Civilized.
The Wildlings, often referred to as the Farrels, live in the forests and plains of the Avel, living in packs of 3-10 and tribes into the hundreds. It is rare that one of these packs or tribes to remain in one location for more than a few months, but they do often return to previous locations. Wildlings are some of the greatest explorers in history, including the finding of the Great Swan's Marchessies.
The Civilized, or derogatorily called the Domests, are Caitians who live in the civilized cities. Many of them own Inns, shops of all sorts, and some of the best seafood restaurants, and the decorations and comfort are always over the top. Civilized caitians spend their relaxation times reading. It is rare to find a civilized caitian without an open book.
Relations
Caitians both love and hate all other races, typically they are friendly towards anyone, but that attitude can change quickly for brief periods of time, for this reason, many individuals of other races dislike Caitians.
Alignment and Religion
Caitians usually align themselves with Kaalru, some will also align with Onalru, but many do not choose Onalru or Pualru.
