This nocturnal bird of prey though usually found in the wild has been taken as pets of Avgar since before the Great Kaatyclyzym and was used heavily during the GK for hunting for food for tribes of Avgar and Hhorq.

These birds even bear a resemblance to the Avgar, they are short, stalky, and have a sort of beard of feathers under their beak, and a single feather protruding from each side above the beak, giving the impression of a mustache along with the beard.

Lanka-gars can be almost any color, with offspring being a spectral blend of their parents; however, most mate with partners of similar coloring, though not always.

While the Gar hold these birds in high esteem, the Hhorq, and other Wildling tribes, will trap these birds, use their feathers as clothing and other fabrics, and in jewelry along with the bird's eyes (which solidify to crystal shortly after its death). While the Avgar will honor the eyes of a Lanka, the Hhorq disgrace them (in the opinion of an Avgar).
